Asamblea Permanente de la Sociedad Civil por la Paz pide al Gobierno Nacional acatar peticiones de congresistas de USA
36 Representantes a la Cámara de Estados Unidos solicitan al Presidente Uribe investigar robos de información a ONG´s de paz y derechos humanos.
Bogotá, julio 19 de 2007. –La Asamblea Permanente de la Sociedad Civil por la Paz pide al gobierno del Presidente Alvaro Uribe acatar la solicitud hecha el pasado 17 de julio por 36 congresistas estadounidenses para que las autoridades competentes investiguen los robos de información de que hemos sido víctimas varias organizaciones de paz y derechos humanos en los últimos meses.
En la misiva enviada al gobierno colombiano, los Representantes a la Cámara de Estados Unidos advierten motivaciones políticas detrás de estos robos de información, a tiempo que expresan su profunda preocupación por la seguridad de todos los activistas de paz, defensores de derechos humanos y testigos que aparecen en la información robada.
Como organizaciones de paz y derechos humanos solicitamos el pasado 10 de julio a la Oficina del Vicepresidente, que estos robos de información fuesen investigados con el rigor del caso, ya que hasta el momento han sido tratados por las autoridades judiciales como hurtos comunes, compromiso que asumieron los delegados asignados por el vicepresidente Santos a esta reunión.
Para la Asamblea Permanente de la Sociedad Civil por la Paz, estos robos de información obedecen a un patrón sistemático de seguimiento y hostigamiento que buscan mantener en zozobra a estas organizaciones.
Valoramos y agradecemos la preocupación de este grupo de congresistas estadounidenses por las graves implicaciones de los robos de información a la Corporación Yirá Castro (21 de junio de 2007), Justapaz (14 de junio de 2007), Movimiento de Reconciliación (2 de junio de 2007) y Asamblea Permanente de la Sociedad Civil por la Paz (22 de enero de 2007) y en general su solidaridad con las demás organizaciones y personas víctimas de hechos similares.
CARTA DE LOS REPRESENTANTES A LA CÁMARA DE ESTADOS UNIDOS AL PRESIDENTE URIBE SOBRE EL ROBO DE INFORMACIÓN A ORGANIZACIONES DE DERECHOS HUMANOS Y PAZ

36 Members of Congress ask President Uribe to investigate the information theft targetting peace and human rights organizations
Bogotá, July 19th, 2007- La Asamblea Permanente de la Sociedad Civil por la Paz (The Permanent Assembly of Civil Society for Peace) asks President Álvaro Uribe to comply with the request made on July 17th by 36 members of US Congress for Colombian authorities to investigate the information thefts targeted at various peace and human rights organizations in the last several months.
In the message sent to the Colombian government, members of the United States House of Representatives warn of political motivations behind these information thefts, and also express their deep concern for the security of all peace activists, human rights defenders, church communities and witnesses identified in the stolen information.
As peace and human rights organizations, on July 10th we requested of the Vice-President’s office that these thefts be thoroughly investigated, bearing in mind that up to now the judicial authorities have treated them as ordinary robberies. The person delegated by Vice-President Santos to this meeting committed to following through with this request.
